If you're feeling down and out most days, maybe it's time to move to one of the least depressed states in the country. 

We are products of our environment, right? So maybe changing our environment can actually make us less anxious and stressed. I'm not just talking about going for a walk or headed to a coffee shop to get your work done. I mean actually moving to a different part of the country where life isn't so crazy.

If you live in Illinois, you might be feeling overwhelmed, stressed and anxious most days. According to a new study from the meditation music site, MindWings, it could be because Illinois is the 26th least depressed state in the country... that's not great for a country of 50 states. We're in the bottom half.

Sure, we're doing better than Tennessee, California, Arkansas and Louisiana, but our neighbor to the North is broke the top five, that's the place to be!

Wisconsin is the fourth least depressed state in America. Shout out to you guys! I'm impressed!

Maybe it's the cheese curds, the local breweries or the nature, but whatever it is, it's working wonders.

Top Five Least Depressed States in America

The least depressed state in the nation is South Dakota, followed by Minnesota and North Dakota. Then WI steps in, with Nebraska rounding out the top five.

The study took symptoms of anxiety and depression between 2020 and 2023 into account before ranking these states.
