Join your family and friends and don't miss out on a fun summertime tradition in the Cedar Valley. If you don't know it, we have the best ski show in Iowa, along with one of the best in the Midwest and in our nation, right here in our own backyard.

On Sunday, my wife and I enjoyed a nearly perfect Iowa summer evening watching the popular Waterhawks Ski Team perform their show on Eagle Lake in Evansdale. First organized in 1958, the team has grown to over 100 members and annually takes home awards from regional and national ski shows.

The Waterhawks Ski Team took home some hardware this summer

This summer, the Waterhawks took 3rd place on July 25th at the Midwest Regional tournament held in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It was a successful weekend, at they won team awards for the "Best Pyramid" and the "Highest Scoring Act" of the tournament. Some individual team members took home awards as well.

The team provided a wonderful performance at the Division 1 National Tournament in Janesville, Wisconsin on the weekend of August 14th. They made Iowa proud by bringing home 8th place nationally against some stiff competition.

Last show of the season is this Sunday night at Eagle Lake in Evansdale

The Waterhawks final show of the 2021 season is this Sunday evening, with the pre-show starting at 5:00 p.m. and the main show at 6:00 p.m. There is no admission fee, but free-will donations are accepted and make sure to check out the concession stand.

Waterhawks annual Halloween haunted hayride is this fall

Once again, this October, the Waterhawks host their annual very popular fundraising event, the Haunted Halloween Hayride. This family-friendly event takes place in the woods behind Eagle Lake. The funds raised from this event go to the capital improvements at the lake.

Keep up-to-date with the Waterhawks on their Facebook page, and click here for more information about joining their team.

Top 10 Fantastic Breweries in the Cedar Valley & Northeast Iowa - List

It's a quote that rings true, "Local Beer is Better". Why? Because you're supporting your friends and neighbors. Heck, you might even personally know the brewmaster of your favorite local beer. How cool is that? The "dive bar" down on the corner might have it's own place in society, but they're quickly being replaced by local breweries with unique themes and spacious taprooms. On top of that, they take the joy of beer to the next level, with some really good (and sometimes award-winning) beer! Scroll down for our virtual brewery tour.
