Guys have done (and will do) anything in the name of love, whether they are doing it intentionally or instinctually.

This is probably the latter.

Cornell University published something in the journal Evolutionary Psychological Science, and it says men will eat significantly more food in the company of women than they will around their guy friends.

Researchers took notes of 105 people at an all-you-can-eat Italian food buffet over a two-week span. They noted how much people ate, and the gender of who they were dining with. They were then directly asked questions about how full they were and about their mental state while eating.

Women surveyed did not eat more food simply by being around men, but they feel like they overate and felt rushed while eating.

Men who were with at least one member of the opposite sex ate 93% more pizza and 86% more salad. They had the same mindset as people in eating competitions.

The conclusion was, according to the Cornell report, that "men tend to overeat to show off".

I agree with this, but:

1) if I am at a pizza buffet, I am not leaving until I am pregnant with a food baby
2) if I am trying to impress a woman, I probably do not take her to an all-you-can-eat buffet
3) if I am trying to impress a woman at an all-you-can-eat buffet, I want to eat as much as possible so she thinks I appreciate a good value, that I am a thrifty shopper, not that I am a caveman or a glutton
4) the eating more salad thing is to impress a woman so she will view you as "health-conscious" and not a slob

What do you think?
