The vaccine feels like it's in our reach. It's right there! We now have at least two major vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer. Approximately 20% of Iowans are actually eligible to get the vaccine.  The Iowa Department of Public Health set a goal for the state in regards to vaccinations; at least 80% of the vaccine doses given to the counties each week have to be used. If not, then counties could lose their dosage for the following week.

One of the complaints about the entire process of actually getting a vaccine has been that it's a bit slow, and also people find it difficult to schedule appointments. However, Iowa is trying to change that for residents by teaming up with a major company. The Hawkeye state chose Microsoft to create the digital system to help Iowans schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

IDPH officials made a statement that an award will be given for an emergency contract with Microsoft, so that things can get underway. This makes Microsoft responsible for creating an online registering system that will help residents schedule when and where they get their vaccines.
