It's big, impressive, and looks like a blast.

The largest waterpark in the state of Illinois sits on nearly 60 acres of land and has 32 water slides. There's a wave pool, a lazy river, three different pool areas for the kiddos, and even a six-lane waterslide where you can do mat racing.

According to Enjoy Illinois, Raging Waves Waterpark is Aussie-themed. The Aussie Mat Dash, referenced above is one of just three "rides" of its type in the world at a waterpark that's been growing since it first opened back in 2008.

I mentioned the Aussie theme. Here's more on the Aussie Mat Dash, and some of the other rides for water-lovers at Raging Waves:

Wonambi: A 4-person raft ride that includes a 720-degree downward spiral with speeds over 30 mph and a 43-foot wave wall "for a near-vertical, zero-gravity experience."

Cyclone: "Slide down super fast, then get ready for the spin cycle."

Kookaburra Kreek: A quarter-mile lazy river that lets you float through the Outback.

PJ's Plummet: Speeds up to 43 mph as you drop 72 feet in a body speed slide.

Tasmanian Twister:

The Boomerang: It's a giant funnel slide. Check this out:

That's a sampling of what you'll find at Raging Waves Waterpark, in Yorkville, Illinois. Located on the west side of the Chicago suburbs, it's about 3 hours and 10-minutes from Cedar Rapids and 4 hours from Waterloo. The next time you're heading in the direction of the Windy City, it definitely looks like it's worth a stop. You'll find more on Raging Waves Waterpark here.
