The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome is no more. Officials for the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority deflated the roof of the Metrodome one last time. With hopes of bring a Super Bowl to the Twin Cities, the area hopes to usher in a new era.

It only took 35 minutes for the dome to come down, and then they used explosives to blow the cable lines.  By April, the structure should be completely removed from the city's skyline. The new massive complex is slated to open in 2016.

Late last week, the Governor of Minnesota Mark Dayton introduced a committee the will be bidding for the 2018 Super Bowl. They have been talking with the National Football League commissioner since the bill was passed to build the new glassy behemoth.

While the new stadium is being built, the Minnesota Vikings negotiated a use agreement allowing the Vikings to play the 2014 and 2015 seasons at TCF Bank Stadium on the university’s campus.
