Sometimes it's the simplest of ideas that end up working out. In this world of uncertainty that we live in, stress comes from every direction. But a new hotline provides some relief from an unlikely source. Kids.

Kindergarteners to be exact. NPR reports that the hotline is the result of a project from the students at West Side Elementary in the small town of Healdsburg, California. It was put together with the help of teachers who were continually impressed with their student's positive attitudes despite everything they'd been through. The pandemic, wildfires in the region, and all the other challenges of just being a kid.

The hotline is called 'Peptoc' and is absolutely free to call. Children's voices will prompt you at the menu to make one of the following choices.

  • If you're feeling mad or nervous, press 1
  • If you need words of encouragement or life advice, press 2
  • If you need a pep talk from kindergartners, press 3
  • If you need to hear kids laughing with delight, press 4

NPR reports that among the messages delivered by the kids are, "Be grateful for yourself" and another says, "Bro, you're looking great!" The teacher behind the project said that she hopes the hotline gives callers a little respite from what they are going through. So far, the hotline has been a success, averaging thousands of calls every day!
