After the Cedar Valley dugout from the big snowstorm, fans were treated to a flurry of goals and a hard-fought hockey game in Party Town, where the home team came up just short.

The Black Hawks' Wyatt Schingoethe had the hot stick Tuesday night, with three goals in the 2nd period, but it wasn't enough to push Waterloo past the Dubuque Fighting Saints during a 5-4 loss at Young Arena. According to the team's game re-cap, Schingoethe scored three times during the middle 20 minutes to lift Waterloo from a one-goal deficit to a 2nd intermission lead.

The Black Hawks got the scoring started on a power play as Alex Gaffney's shot clanked in off the post. Then Schingoethe took over in the 2nd period. Schingoethe fired in a quick shot from the edge of the left circle past the Saints net minder. Less than two minutes later, Dubuque went back in front, however, Schingoethe tied it as Ryan O’Hara set up Schingoethe off the rebound of Nick Wallace’s shot. Then Schingoethe completed the hat trick while the Black Hawks were shorthanded. He shot a faceoff into the offensive zone, then chased down the puck, ducking behind the net to finish a backhanded wraparound. Unfortunately, the Saints' Matt Savoie scored twice in the first three minutes of the 3rd period to twist the game back in Dubuque’s favor
