Waterloo and Other NE Iowa Schools Closing Early Due to Severe Weather Threat
When you think of school closings in Iowa, you likely think of snow. Ice. Freezing rain. Hey, maybe even sub-zero temps. But you don't necessarily think of wind and tornadoes, though it's crucial we keep our kids safe, so it's a smart reason to pull the plug early.
As a result of the very real threat of severe weather, several area schools have announced early closures today. You can find them below, updated as we receive the notifications from the schools or businesses.
Cedar Falls Schools - Dismissing 1 hour early
Cedar Falls - Cedar Falls Public Library: Closing at 3:00 PM
Cedar Valley Catholic Schools - Dismissing 1 hour early
Decorah Schools - Dismissing 2 hours early
Denver Schools - 2-Hour Early Dismissal--No afternoon or evening activities. Discoveries closing at 3:00 pm
Grundy Center Community School District - will dismiss school at 2:00 pm in consideration of the Severe Weather. Buses will pick up students at 2:00 pm at the Secondary building and 2:05 pm at the Elementary building. Western Outreach Classes are canceled for the afternoon as well. There will be no after-school or evening activities tonight. Stay safe Spartans!
Hawkeye Community College - will be closing at 1:30 p.m.
Nashua-Plainfield Schools - Closing at 1:00 PM; No evening activities
New Hampton Schools - Closing at 1:10 PM; All Activities Canceled
Postville Schools -1:30 Dismissal
Readlyn - Comm. Lutheran School - Dismissing 2 hours early; Child care open
Sumner-Fredericksburg Schools - Dismissing 2 hours early; No PM kindergarten
Tripoli Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 3/31/23. No evening activities. No after-school childcare.
Turkey Valley Schools - Dismissing 2 hours early
Waterloo Schools - All Waterloo Schools will dismiss one hour early today and all after-school activities are canceled.
