Two of the nation’s largest movie theater chains have placed restrictions on the costumes that fans can wear to screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both AMC and Cinnemark have banned masks from all showings. Cinemark has also banned lightsabers, while AMC will allow them as long as they’re turned off during the show. The outlet notes that the restrictions highlight an icnreased awareness of security issues in theaters following shootings at screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in 2012 and Trainwreck this past summer.

Ironically, the movie will likely show someone deflecting shots taken at them by blasters with a lightsaber. But in real life a good guy with a lightsaber is considered inadequate protection against a bad guy with a gun.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18 so just go dressed to a movie in a movie theater (which is in public) as a regular person please.
