Start times and broadcast assignments have been announced for several Iowa and Iowa State football games this fall.

Both 2021 schedules are highlighted by the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game, which will be televised nationally by ABC. Following a one-year interruption, the rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State is set to kick-off at 2:30 PM on Sept. 11 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.

The Hawkeyes and Cyclones were supposed to meet at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City last year, but the game was canceled when the Big Ten Conference switched to a league-only schedule during a pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

The 2019 game in Ames was one of the most unusual and memorable in series history. Due to several weather delays, the early afternoon game wasn't decided until early evening. Iowa State couldn’t overcome a second half rally by Iowa and fell to the Hawkeyes 18-17. It was Iowa's fifth-straight victory over the Cyclones.

Iowa State's 2021 schedule begins with the season opener against UNI on Sept. 4, another in-state battle that will kick-off at 2:30 PM in Ames. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The last meeting between the Cyclones and Panthers was also in 2019, when the 21st-ranked Cyclones squeaked out a 29-26 victory over their FCS-level in-state opponent in a triple-overtime classic. Iowa State leads the all-time series 6-23-3, but UNI has beaten the Cyclones three times since 2007.

On Sept. 18, Iowa State travels to UNLV to face the Rebels at Allegiant Stadium. Kick-off is set for 9:30 PM CT on CBS Sports Network.

The Cyclones' home game against TCU on Thanksgiving weekend has been moved up a day to accommodate television coverage. Instead of being played on Saturday, Nov. 27, Iowa State will face the Horned Frogs on Friday, Nov. 26 (Black Friday) at either 3 or 3:30 PM, depending on whether the game is aired on FOX or FS1.

Iowa's traditional Black Friday game against Nebraska will be ending about the time Iowa State's game begins. The Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers are scheduled to kick-off at 12:30 PM at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb. Iowa is seeking its seventh-straight victory in the series.

In all, seven start times for Iowa football games were announced by the Big Ten Conference Thursday. In addition to the Iowa and Nebraska match-ups, the Hawkeyes' non-conference home game against Kent State on Sept. 18 is slated to kick-off at 2:30 PM at Kinnick Stadium.

Iowa's Homecoming game against Purdue on Oct. 16 is also scheduled to start at 2:30 PM. The Hawkeyes will be Wisconsin's Homecoming opponent on Oct. 30 when they travel to Madison for an 11 AM game. No broadcast network has been determined yet for either game.

The 2021 season will be the first one in 41 years that Iowa opens a full-scheduled season against a Big Ten opponent. The Hawkeyes' will host Indiana on Sept. 4 at 2:30 PM on BTN. The last time Iowa opened a season at home against a league rival was 1979 against the Hoosiers in Hayden Fry's first game as head coach of the Hawkeyes.

Iowa kicked off its pandemic-abbreviated schedule last year at Purdue.

The Hawkeyes have an open date on Oct. 23. Kickoff times for the remaining five games will be announced no later than 12 days prior to the game, per the media rights agreements between the Big Ten Conference and its television partners.
