Here we are entering the home stretch of 2023. Cue up the 'Best Of' lists! I enjoy many of these lists, including the ones that take a look back at the world of country music. We got our first 'Best Country Albums of 2023' list this week courtesy of Pop Matters. I know. A pop site talking country. But the list is interesting and includes names you'd expect. Including one who just happens to hail from Shueyville, Iowa!

Pop Matters lists the 15 best country albums of the year. Here is who they have listed as their top five.

5. Tyler Childers - Rustin' In the Rain

4. Hailey Whitters - I'm In Love

3. Lori McKenna - 1988

2. Chris Stapleton - Higher

1. Margo Price - Strays

2023 was another highlight year for Hailey Whitters. She won the ACM Award for Best New Female Artist. Her single "Everything She Ain't" hit it big on country radio and went gold. In the midst of a busy touring schedule she managed to put out the six-song EP 'I'm In Love.' The title track is on country radio now. The project features more strong songwriting and that Iowa country imagery that Hailey excels at. My personal favorite is 'Countryside Chick'. Who doesn't love a little double entendre in their music?

Congratulations Hailey on an amazing 2023! We can't wait to hear what you have up your sleeve next! Hailey has several tour dates to finish up 2023 including a date at the Grand Ole Opry on Sunday!
