This Is The Best Donut Shop In Iowa

Happy #NationalDonutDay! On this most glorious of days, I'm searching for the best donut shop in Iowa. So I did what most smart people do...I let the Internet decide for me. Do you agree with this choice?

Anybody can hit up Kripsy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts. But I'm looking for the local gems, the hometown spots doling out dozens upon dozens of delightful, delicious donut developments daily.

MSN ranked donut (doughnut?) shops throughout the U.S. and rated Topped Doughnuts in Ankeny as Iowa's #1. Based on these pictures...it's pretty hard to argue:

These look fantastic! Topped Doughnuts is located at 129 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny. Make a pit stop the next time you head to Des Moines. If you don't want to trek quite that far, Donutland in Cedar Rapids and Hurts Donut in Coralville are definitely suitable choices. Click HERE for the full list.
