More than two dozen student-athletes committed to play football at UNI Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

UNI Head Coach Mark Farley and his staff signed 22 players. The group includes five transfers, four of whom will be eligible to play immediately in the spring.

Cedar Falls running back Ryan Ostrich is one of 12 players from the state of Iowa. He choose to stay home and play his college home games at the UNI-Dome, the same venue where he played his high school games.

West Des Moines Valley running back Jayden Williams spurred power-five offers to follow in his father Darian Williams' footsteps at UNI. Benny Sapp III transferred from Minnesota, where he played defensive back in 11 games as a freshman. Sapp is the son of Benny Sapp Jr., another former UNI star who played eight seasons in the NFL (Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins).

Four of the five transfers signed by UNI come from the FBS ranks, including three from Power-Five schools. The lone junior college transfer is Brandan Tillman, who is coming to UNI from Iowa Central.

The signees include seven offensive linemen, three wide receivers, three running backs, three defensive backs, two defensive linemen, two linebackers, one long-snapper and a tight end. Joining the group of 12 Iowans are three players from Florida, two from Illinois, and one each from Minnesota, Missouri, Texas and Wisconsin.
