As some states start to ease restrictions on social-distancing, there's a glimmer of hope that sports might have a chance to return soon, including the currently suspended NBA season.

UNI athletic officials released a statement on Saturday, stating that guard A.J. Green will test the NBA waters. The 6-foot-4 sophomore from Cedar Falls will proceed through the draft process without an agent, therefore maintaining his NCAA eligibility. Green is looking forward to feedback from professional teams on how he can improve his game.

This past season, Green averaged just under 20 points per game on 42% shooting from the field. He shot 40% from three-point range and made 92% of his free throws. Green helped lead UNI to the regular season league title and a 25-6 overall record. He was also named The Missouri Valley Conference’s 2020 Larry Bird Player of the Year.

As a Panther fan, when I went to the games at the McLeod Center or watched them on TV, Green was always the best player on the court. I think I can speak for all Panther fans, that we can't wait to see him in a UNI uniform for a couple more years, before he gets his NBA career started.
