Waverly police continue to investigate a fatal Thanksgiving Day traffic accident. On Monday, they identified the victim as a Waverly man.

According to authorities, 20-year-old Jacob Danielson was killed in the mishap. They said Jacobson was driving westbound in the 1000 block of East Bremer Ave., or Iowa Highway 3, when his sport utility vehicle left the pavement and struck a concrete barrier.

The SUV traveled the length of the barrier and rolled over after coming to a rest. Police said Danielson was ejected. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Danielson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred Thursday around 3:45 AM. Another motorist discovered the wrecked vehicle and called police.

West Union Woman Involved In Accident

A West Union woman escaped injury in a weekend accident in Fayette County.

According to sheriff's officials, 43-year-old Carolyn Roys was driving northbound on Iowa Highway 56/Filmore Road when she swerved to miss a deer that entered the highway. The vehicle left the pavement, entered a ditch and rolled. The jeep came to rest on its tires.

The accident happened Saturday just after 10 PM near West Union.

Sheriff's officials said no one was injured in the accident. They estimated damage to Roys' vehicle at $8,000.
