Imagine being 9-years-old again and when someone asked you what you want to be when you grew up, you would say a superhero with the cape all. Would you have believed you didn't have to have a cape or grow up in order to be a hero for someone? This is what makes one Waterloo boy so special, because he already is becoming a hero for someone else.

According to KWWL, Liam Winninger is a 9-year-old native Waterloo boy who has recently just finished kayaking the entire Cedar River with his Dad to raise money to make a wish come true for someone a part of the Make-A-Wish foundation Iowa. Now if you are unsure how long the Cedar River is the father-son duo had to Kayak almost 340 miles of river which took them 20 days. During this time, Liam decided the trip would be used to raise money for Make-A-Wish Iowa and give a sick child a wish.

So Dad and son gathered their gear together, had a supportive pit crew which included Liam's mom and siblings and set off for the trip. For most this would seem like a big task to undertake on the water, but for Liam and his Dad they are no strangers to the water as they are sailors and do big trips every year.

Now to grant a wish for the Make-A-Wish Iowa it is slightly over $13,000, but this didn't deter Liam from the goal. Liam and his Dad kept friends and family updated of their travels and goals through Facebook. Liam become the youngest wish hero in Iowa when he first raised $2,500 which doubled that as time went on and is now at a little over $7,000.

Although Liam and his Dad's journey is over, he is still working towards that goal as he has until the end of July to reach it. If you want to help Liam reach his goal and grant someone a wish you can find out how to donate here. Good luck Liam and thanks for showing us that you don't need a cape to be a hero!
