When the Internet is Down

Is there anything more frustrating at work that when the internet is down??? That is the case here at the radio station today. It happens in every workplace from time to time, and when it does, it brings out a level of rage and frustration that is unmatched in the American workplace! Here is my normal pattern of behavior when the internet keeps popping "on" and "off" here at work:

1. Keep opening and closing my browser repeatedly like a madman hoping that will somehow jumpstart it into working.
2. Press each button on my keyboard harder and harder, as if this will someone "force" it to work.
3. Obsessively refreshing my email, hoping by chance that one of my 37 refreshes in a 60 second span will produce results.

It is amazing the standstill that happens in the workplace in this day and age when the office internet is down. Honestly, how did people accomplish anything at work before the internet was even around? They must have done all their work through their smartphones instead, right? ;)
