A Closed Restaurant Will Return to Eastern Iowa
Get ready for the return of a Cedar Rapids favorite! The Lost Cuban has revealed that it will be making a comeback!
The Lost Cuban first opened at 209 3rd St SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids back in 2012, before eventually closing its doors in 2019. The building sat empty for a few years before Taco Gato opened in the space earlier this year.
Just yesterday (December 6th), the Lost Cuban posted an update on Facebook that Eastern Iowans seem to be pretty happy about! It reads:
"Hey guys! we are closing in on a new spot downtown. Be on the lookout for us on all the delivery providers in these coming weeks. Love y'all!"
We don't have any additional details yet on where the Lost Cuban will be located downtown, but we DO know that there will be a pickup window! A comment from the restaurant says that they will eventually open as a sit-down restaurant, but "at first it will be delivery and pick up only. With a late night window." Another comment asked the restaurant what happened to them, and they responded by saying, "did some projects on the west coast and now back in CR so figured it was about time."
Former Lost Cuban customers are already sharing their excitement about the restaurant's return in the Facebook comments. One from user Kris Cakerice reads:
"OMG! You don’t know how happy this makes me! Can’t wait til you are open. I’ve been lost without you"
Another comment from Stephanie Estrada says:
"I miss me some Cuban Sandwiches and black beans/rice!!!"
