It's going to be a party after dark in downtown Cedar Rapids this Saturday night! The 8th annual Market After Dark is this weekend. A normal Saturday farmers market is one of the most attended events of the summer in Eastern Iowa. But Market After Dark is downtown Cedar Rapids' largest outdoor celebration of the year!

The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance announced final plans for the Market After Dark this week. The event is Saturday night, August 26th from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. This year's market will feature one of the largest footprints in the history of the event. A press release states that this year over 120 vendors and some 20 entertainment options will fill the streets of downtown Cedar Rapids. There will be lighted attractions, dance parties, and plenty of food and drink to be had! Here is a map for the Market After Dark on Saturday night.

Market After Dark will feature two dance parties, in the 2nd Street pocket park between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, and at the corner of 4th Avenue and 3rd Street. There will be a photo installation at the Community Foundation parking lot, and the Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra will perform in the lighted alleyway on 3rd Street between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue. Several entertainment stages will also feature live performances on Saturday night. Enjoy music from Kevin Moore and High and Mighty on the main stage located at 4th Avenue and 5th Street.

There will be plenty of market vendors to visit during your time at Market After Dark, and patrons 21 and older can enjoy beverages in an open container environment. There will be a number of beverage tents at Market After Dark and area businesses will also feature food and drink specials you can enjoy while downtown. The Market After Dark is a rain-or-shine event, but the forecast for Saturday night looks perfect, especially after the terribly hot weather we've all endured this week. So grab your best farmer's market bag, and some friends and head to the Market After Dark on Saturday night!
