Tom Hanks showed his everyman side yesterday in a way any man who is married can identify with: Protect your wife.

While headed to their car in New York City last night when a swarm of fans appeared asking for autographs, photos, selfies, you name it. The crowd grew to a size large enough that some bumping was happening, with one fan bumping into Rita Wilson, nearly knocking her over.

"Guys! Stop it!" Rita shouts after a fan rammed into her back.

As any husband would react, Tom put his hand on the guy who ran into her, and turned to the rest of the fans.

"This is my wife, back the f*ck off!" he shouted at them. The exchange lasted a few seconds longer.

Someone off-screen says "What are you guys doing?" to which Hanks replies, "Knocking over my wife!"

Check out the video:

It's not an autograph or photo, but getting yelled at to "Back the f*ck off" by the guy who essentially voiced the majority of the crowd's childhood will be something that'll stick with them for quite a while.
