When it comes to St. Patrick's Day celebrations, we sure know what we're doing here in Cedar Rapids!

The website WalletHub has released its annual study on the best cities in America to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and once again, Cedar Rapids has done really well. We may not have made the top 10 this year, but we did make the top 20!

Before we get into that, though, we need to know how WalletHub came up with their results. The article reads:

"WalletHub compared 200 of the largest cities across 18 key metrics to find the best places to wear green and save some, too. Our data set ranges from Irish pubs and restaurants per capita to the lowest price for a three-star hotel on St. Patrick’s Day to the weather forecast."

Based on those metrics, Cedar Rapids is 15th in the country for St. Patrick's Day celebrations! We ranked 25th in the category of 'St. Patrick's Day Traditions,' 30th for 'Accessibility,' and 66th for 'Costs,' but there is one thing we didn't rank well in... 'St. Patrick's Day Weather.' No real surprise there, especially considering that this weekend's SaPaDaPaSo Parade could be the coldest one on record! Cedar Rapids was also tied for 5th in the subcategory of 'Highest % of Irish Population.'

This weekend's parade will be the first "normal" St. Patrick's Day celebration in Cedar Rapids since 2019, so even if the weather doesn't cooperate, I think everyone will still have a good time. The big event is set for this Saturday, March 12th at 1 p.m. and will follow the traditional Downtown parade route. You can get all the details you need HERE.
