[UPDATE Wednesday, June 8 4 p.m.] The person killed in a Wednesday morning accident in rural Linn County has been identified as 33-year-old Michaela Devaney of Cedar Rapids.

[ORIGINAL STORY] The driver of a pickup was killed in a one-vehicle accident in rural Linn County early Wednesday morning.

According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, emergency personnel were called to the scene at the corner of Monticello Road and Highway 13, east of Coggon, just before 4:20 a.m. this morning.

Deputies from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, along with Center Point Ambulance and both the Coggon and Prairieburg Fire Departments all responded. When they arrived, they found the vehicle above in the south ditch.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle had been traveling west on Monticello Road. The driver lost control on the curve just east of Highway 13 and rolled several times. The vehicle came to rest in the south ditch.

The only person in the vehicle was the driver of the truck, who was thrown from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene. KCRG reports the victim was a woman. Her name hasn't been released pending notification of relatives.

The roadway was closed for a little more than two hours following the accident but has since reopened. The Linn County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the accident.

A total of 52 people were killed, 39 from Iowa according to a list of the deceased. An additional 39 people were injured. The cause of the crash was never determined.
