Food Delivery Service Soon To Offer Last Bite to Cedar Rapids
With Uber Eats, DoorDash, GrubHub, and many other food delivery services vying for their piece of the pie in Cedar Rapids, one casualty has announced it will drop service in the area as of August 15.
As the pandemic began in 2020 and continued beyond, many restaurants relied on these third-party delivery services to accommodate customers and stay in business after they were forced to close to indoor dining.
Iowa City-based Chomp was seeing just as much of a spike in business at the time as the others of its kind, but KCRG says that now that those restrictions begin to get lifted, the pie is leveling out and, at least in Cedar Rapids, there is less room for Chomp. While Chomp has seen a bit more success in Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty, that hasn't been translating to the Cedar Rapids area.
They even partnered with Cedar Rapids Public Library to deliver library materials. But with other services now beginning to offer items beyond restaurant delivery, such as groceries and other goods, it is effectively taking a bite out of Chomp.
