Linn County recently became the final county in Iowa to have its own Freedom Rock. Now, a major tourist spot in Iowa that attracts thousands of people every summer will soon set a milestone with another rock. This new freedom rock will be the 100th one of these incredibly powerful sites across the state.

Adventureland Park in Altoona made the announcement on their Facebook page on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11:

Adventureland is so excited to be able to share that we will be the home of Iowa's 100th FREEDOM ROCK! It is extra special to be able to announce our winning bid on Veterans Day, as this rock honors the armed services and all who have served our great country. The money bid on this rock is also going to not one but two Veteran charities, Puppy Jake Foundation and TAPS. Thank you Veterans, for your service and sacrifice, and we cannot wait to unveil the new artwork right around July 4th!

That's right, their goal is to get it completed by America's Independence Day 2022. Planning is just beginning and work on the project will soon get underway.

Bubba Sorenson spearheaded the Freedom Rock tour in 1999. Now that his work painting each county's rock in honor of Iowa veterans is finished, there is a checklist of where each county's Freedom Rock is located if you'd like to take the tour or at least stop by a few of them before the Adventureland project is complete. The Linn County Freedom Rock is located in Central City on the Linn County Fairgrounds. We encourage you to view the photos of the most recently completed project below and stay tuned for more updates on Adventureland's upcoming piece of history.

Linn County Freedom Rock: The Transformation From Boulder to Freedom Rock

The Linn County Freedom Rock is located at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central. Ray "Bubba" Sorensen completed the rock in September of 2021, making it the 99th and final county Freedom Rock in the state of Iowa.
