Man Injured, City Park Damaged In Waterloo Accident
A man was injured in an overnight accident that damaged a Waterloo city park.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 2 AM Thursday in the 1100 block of Rainbow Drive. Waterloo police said the male driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment. The man’s name was not immediately released.
A Waterloo police report shows the vehicle caught fire, apparently after hitting a tree.
According to a neighborhood resident, the vehicle crashed into Castle Bluffs Park. Photos show a tree was damaged in the accident, along with some street and park signs.
The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined. The accident remains under investigation.
