Two highway construction projects are scheduled to get underway in northeast Iowa this week.

In Black Hawk County, officials plan to pave County Road V-51 (S. Canfield Road) between County Roads D-22 (Dubuque Road) and D-38 (Poyner Road). The rural highway, including the on and off ramps for U.S. Highway 20, is expected to be closed through June depending on the weather. A marked detour will guide traffic around the work zone.

In Floyd County, an asphalt paving project will require intermittent lane closers on U.S. Highway 18 from Gilbert Street (Business U.S. Highway 218) in Charles City to the Chickasaw County line through mid-October. Motorists will be directed through the work zone with flaggers and pilot cars during daytime hours.

According to Iowa Department of Transportation officials, work within the city will also include underground utility replacement. Street parking on U.S. 18 within the project area will not be allowed for the duration of the project.
