This is the season to give to those most in need. And the Oelwein Police Department is partnering with the Oelwein Fareway Grocery store, to help you easily donate food items to area residents who need it the most.

The 2019 Arresting Hunger Food Drive will take place this Saturday (Dec. 14) from 1-3pm at the Fareway in Oelwein.

This food drive is unique, as it allows grocery store customers to buy, then donate food, all in the same place.

Those wishing to donate to the cause, will be given a list of items most needed by area food pantries. Those items will be bagged separately, so they may easily be donated just outside the store. The donations will be put in Oelwein Police squad cars, to deliver to the food pantry.

Oelwein Officer Nathan Craun is heading up the program this year, and is hoping to pack the squad cars full, to be given to our most vulnerable citizens.
