The Best (And Worst) Thing About Iowa
When it comes to your home state there's always at least one thing worth bragging about...at least one thing you'd rather avoid talking about. 24/7 Wall Street reviewed a bunch of data from across the country to determine the best (and worst) features of each state.
Let's start with the good!
Iowa has had a remarkably stable economy over the years. While national unemployment rose above 10% after the housing crisis, Iowa unemployment topped out at 6.6%. And the unemployment rate in Iowa has held steady at around 4.5%, one of the best in the U.S.
And now for the not so good:
Despite the immense popularity of RAGBRAI each summer, Iowa isn't very kind to bicyclists. Iowa actually has five of the 10 most dangerous cities to bike in, including Waterloo (#7).
Waterloo's made efforts to improve city biking conditions lately, so hopefully we won't be on this list for much longer.
