The National Weather Service in Des Moines (Iowa) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Northeast Iowa. A large amount of wet, heavy snow is expected to fall and make travel difficult throughout northeastern and eastern Iowa on Saturday.

A major Winter Storm will blow through northeast Iowa tonight and Saturday with wet, heavy snowfall. Winds will be strong at times. The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Storm Warning for northeast Iowa that begins at 10:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2018 until 1:00 PM Saturday.

Wet, heavy snow is expected over a major portions of northeast and eastern Iowa late tonight through Saturday morning. Hazardous winter weather conditions are possible through Saturday afternoon. Winds will gust to 38 MPH. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Heavy wet snow combined with the winds may result in tree damage and possible power outages in some areas as well.

The NWS is calling for rain to start falling Friday afternoon (40% chance), mainly after 2:00 PM. Overnight Rain and snow will become all snow after 1:00 AM. The snow could be heavy at times (100% Chance). The overnight low will fall to near 30-degrees. Winds will gust as high as 38 MPH. New snow accumulation of three (3) to seven (7) inches possible.

Then on Saturday, the NWS forecast calls for snow before 3:00 PM (100% Chance). That will be become a combination of both rain and snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 36.Winds gusts could be as high as 33 MPH. New snow accumulation of four (4) to eight (8) inches possible.

On Sunday we can expect a mostly sunny sky with a high near 39-degrees. Rain returns on Monday.
