The Iowa men's basketball team avenged its only Big Ten loss of the season so far, as #5 Iowa topped #16 Minnesota Sunday at Carver Hawkeye Arena, 86-71. The Gophers topped Iowa in overtime in Minneapolis back on Christmas Day.

Unlike the game that day, Iowa guard Jordan Bohannon went wild for Iowa. The senior guard had 19 points, a career high 14 assists, a career high 7 rebounds, and no turnovers on the afternoon. Since that stinker of a game on Christmas day, Bohannon is averaging 18.5 points and has made 19 of his 30 three point shots, according to The Gazette. A majority of those assists went to Luka Garza.

The nation's leading scorer had 33 points on Sunday, many on Bohannon assists while in transition. Garza said that made it harder for the Gophers to deploy their double teams. It was also a big night for Joe Wieskamp. The junior had been struggling a bit of late, but he responded Sunday with 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting, and went 3 for 3 from three point range. Wieskamp also became the latest member of the 1,000 point club for Iowa men's basketball, just the 50th player to do so.

In Iowa's game against Maryland, it was the bench that really stepped up when the Hawkeyes needed it. Yesterday, the starters said, hold on...we got this. Iowa's starters scored 77 of Iowa's 86 points.

The Hawkeyes are next in action on Thursday night in Iowa City as the play host to Michigan State. Tip is set for 8:05 p.m.
