This Iowa Town is the First to Require Residents to Wear Masks in Public
Going out to get groceries or want to hit a gym in Muscatine? Better bring your mask. According to KCCI, the eastern Iowa town has chosen to require masks for its residents when they are in public. Their are exceptions, such as when people are seated at a restaurant or food/drink establishment as long as the tables are spaced at least 6 feet apart at all times.
With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of slowing down, many cities are adding the masks in public mandate in an attempt to allow people the chance to go out, while keeping residents safe. Though no city within the Cedar Valley has yet passed such a measure, individual business such as Menard's have made masks mandatory for all shoppers.
The Muscatine mask proclamation asks that children under age two, people with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering are also exempt from the requirement to wear a mask, but are asked to provide documentation if requested and should make social distancing between non-household members a priority. People in jail are also exempt. The mandate has no set end date at this time.
