Authorities are investigating a Grundy County accident that sent four people to the hospital, including two children.

The Iowa State Patrol said the Tuesday morning crash occurred when a southbound car, driven by 34-year-old Becky Matthews of Lincoln, crossed the center line on County Road T-55 ("U" Ave.) and collided head-on with a northbound car, driven by 20-year-old Madison Robinson of Tama. According to a crash report, Matthews admitted she was tired after working a 12-hour shift.

Tuesday's accident happened around 6:30 AM about four miles northwest of Reinbeck.

The crash report indicates that Matthews and a child, 8-year-old Isaiah Matthews, had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Isaiah Matthews was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with unspecified injuries, the Iowa State Patrol said. Robinson, Becky Matthews and another child, 2-year-old Raegan Matthews, were all transported to the hospital in Grundy Center to be treated for their injuries.
