Flood Warning Issued For Cedar River At Cedar Falls

The Cedar River at Cedar Falls is rising slightly, following recent heavy rain.

The National Weather Service has posted a flood warning for the Cedar River at Cedar Falls through Saturday evening. Minor flooding is expected.

At 10:45 AM Friday, the river level was 88.3 feet, or 0.7 feet below the 89-foot flood stage. No flooding was occurring at that time.

National Weather Service forecasters expect the Cedar River at Cedar Falls to rise above flood stage overnight. The Cedar should crest around 89.4 feet Saturday morning, then fall below flood stage Saturday evening.

At 89 feet, the northeast corner of Tourist Park floods. Water also covers the edge of a property on Cottage Row Road.
