It was a tragic loss in 2017, when Allison Jo Morris, only 28 years old at the time, lost her life to a massive brain aneurysm. FOREVER28 was founded in memory of Morris.

Morris was a speech and language pathologist and Cedar Falls native. After her death, Allison’s parents decided to commemorate her memory through the activities she loved most: quality time with family and friends, golf, good food, and speech and language pathology education.

This 4-person Best Shot Golf Tournament combines those activities in a fun event designed to help a UNI speech and language pathology student each year. The endowed Allison Morris Forever28 Scholarship Fund at UNI offers a scholarship to a speech and language pathology student. Allison’s mother, Laurie, is proud to honor her memory while simultaneously promoting speech and language pathology education at her daughter’s alma-mater.

“Allison loved golf and being with family and friends and she went into speech and language pathology to help others,” Morris continued to say, “This tournament gives us the opportunity to tell more people about Allison’s life and raise money to help others make a difference.

In a news release, FOREVER28 is announcing their 3rd annual 4-person best shot golf tournament on Sunday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. Due to COVID-19 precautions, this year’s event will only include the golf tournament, with no after-golf programs. The theme this year is "FOREVER28 SWEET AND SIMPLE IN 2020" - No Auctions. No Raffles. Just Golf." As with every year, funds raised at the event will go towards scholarship fund. Golfers can register at Forever28.org. The $75 per person fee includes green fees, cart, goodie bag, drink tickets and a sack lunch.

Companies and individuals can sponsor holes at the tournament for a $100 tax-deductible donation to the UNI Foundation. Other cash donations of any amount can also be made to the UNI Foundation or send a check to: 2015 Terrace Dr., Cedar Falls 50613.

In the past two years, the event has raised two-thirds of the funds needed to establish an endowed scholarship in Morris’ name.
