Cats Prefer Listening To Classical Music, Study Finds

If you're the one person in the world with an overactive cat -- and by that I mean one that doesn't sleep and lounge around for 23 hours in a day -- they did a study for you.

Cats feel the most relaxed when they listen to classical music, according to a new study published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery.

Meanwhile, music that you would hear on Q92.3 (pop music) leads to mixed results and hard rock (AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck“) really stresses them out. Researchers came up with the results by playing a variety of songs for female cats being anesthetized for neutering surgery.

During that time, they measured the felines’ heart rate, respiratory rate and pupil dilation. No word on what they asked the cats directly.
