CRAPPY NEWS – 3/31/17
TGIF! Here are today's top stories:
A dumb driver trusts the Internet a bit too much, a trucker makes his trip go much faster, and a high school makes a dumb decision...
Port St. Lucie, FL- A man got arrested last week...and blamed Wikipedia.
22-year-old Justin Miret got pulled over for running a stop sign. The officer discovered that Miret had no insurance AND a suspended license. So...he went to jail...for having no insurance and a suspended license.
Apparently, this was a surprise to Miret, who screamed at the cop “That’s the last time I listen to Wikipedia about driving. It said I would just get a ticket.” [The Smoking Gun]
Hopefully he's a bit more thorough when finding a good lawyer.
Deerfield, MA- A tweaking trucker was arrested after making a cross-country trip.
49-year-old Gary Robbins was delivering a shipment from Seattle, and he decided to save time by driving non-stop with ZERO sleep. He stayed awake by loading up on cocaine, crystal meth, and LSD.
He actually made it the whole way, but was seriously messed up by the time he got to Massachusetts. A gas station attendant noticed Robbins acting erratically and called police. Robbins was allegedly trying to put his credit card in the truck's gas tank. He then accidentally locked himself out of the truck and tried to climb back in through the cab. Robbins' truck was impounded and his license revoked. [Recorder]
Sure, he's full of coke and meth. But the guy is dedicated to his profession.
Eufaula, AL- A high school senior was denied the opportunity to take his grandmother to prom...but not for the reason you may think.
Bryce Maine had asked his grandma to prom for his 18th birthday, because she'd never gotten to go when she was in high school. Nanny accepted and even bought a dress for the occasion. But the school principal stepped in and said she couldn't go. His concern? He was worried she may sneak BOOZE into the dance.
The school board commented on the scandal, saying "we do not chance leaving any stone unturned when it comes to safety." Other school officials complained that future students may attempt this as a joke and "make a mockery of prom." [WTVM]
Seems like the school is doing a pretty good job of that already...
