The “Rent-A-Boyfriend” Service Is A Thing

A controversial new website that offers users the chance to “rent-a-boyfriend” by the hour is coming to Toronto, which will be their fifth city.

The Boyfriend Experience, or BFE, allows both women and homosexual men to book a date from a list of eligible bachelors at a going rate of $75 an hour. If you're 25 and over you create a profile and, once accepted, they can "shop" for a plus-one to take to an event or someone to make an ex jealous, or whatever.

“We want professional men who are educated (and) very mature,” said the service’s co-founder Bena Lands. Already up and running in Montreal, New York, Los Angeles and Miami, the service will soon launch in Toronto.

While the service has garnered criticism for being an escort service in disguise, Lands clarified that the site is intended for booking dates only. Of course it is.
