Iowa Guy Gets Snapchat Selfie With Cop While Being Booked

There's always fresh new ground to break when it comes to taking pictures of yourself, and this guy found it.

It's not funeral selfie, but 20-year old Gilbert Phelps did his best to reinforce Iowa City's reputation as a party haven for college-age people.

It all started when Gilbert was pulled over for speeding recently.

It wasn't just speeding. It wasn't just the obstructed tab on his license plate.

There was also -- in the words of the Iowa City police officer who pulled Gilbert over -- “an odor of ingested alcohol coming from the cabin area of the vehicle.” Gilbert failed the field sobriety test, but he passed the breathalyzer.

Gilbert did, unfortunately, fail the "don't tell the officer you smoked marijuana before getting in the car" test. That led to him being arrested for DUI, and also for this:

Gilbert requested the officer take a selfie with him, and the officer (in his words) "happily obliged". Yeah, the thumbs-up in the background kinda tipped us off!
