Man Gets Arrested For DWI After Leaving Rehab Meeting

'Court-ordered' doesn't always translate to 'I seem to have a problem.' This is 'Crappy News' for Monday, February 5th.

Suffolk, U.K.- Two guys gave new meaning to the term "fool's gold."

Neighbors Andy Sampson and Paul Adams had been metal detecting in a field and found more than 50 gold coins, which they believed at the time could have been worth up to £250,000.

Adams sensed that the discovery might have been too good to be true, so they did some digging--no pun intended--and found out the farm was being used as a filming location for a BBC sitcom and that the coins were merely props from the show.

Thankfully, Adams & Sampson didn't do anything impulsive, and now they'll have a funny story to tell. [BBC]

Easton, MD- A hunter suffered a cruel twist of fate.

51-year-old Robert Meilhammer was hunting with three friends Thursday afternoon when one of them fired at a flock of Canada geese overhead.

One of the geese plummeted from the sky and hit Meilhammer, rendering him unconscious and causing serious head and facial injuries. Police say the goose also knocked out two of Meilhammer's teeth.

He was airlifted to the hospital, where he's still recuperating. [Washington Post]

You know what they say, karma's a goose. And speaking of karma...

Fishkill, NY- A drunk driver got arrested after leaving his rehab meeting.

David M. Kilmer was not allowed inside the meeting Thursday night after volunteers sensed he was intoxicated. He was asked to call for a ride home, but Kilmer was observed leaving the parking lot a few minutes later in his pickup truck. He was three times over the legal limit when arrested by police.

Kilmer had just been sentenced to court-ordered rehab following a drunk driving arrest less than two weeks earlier.

Since Kilmer's license had been suspended AND revoked, he was charged with aggravated DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. [Hudson Valley News]

Seems like this guy may have a SMALL drinking problem. Let's hope this a-hole is never allowed to drive again.
