56-year-old Steven Shriner was scheduled to play Ebenezer Scrooge in the company's production, but the theatre canceled the show after finding out that Shriner was a convicted sex offender.

According to online court records, Shriner was arrested in 2003 after driving to meet someone he had communicated with online who identified himself as a 14-year-old boy. The boy was, in fact, an investigator for the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice. Shriner was arrested and later found guilty of five charges related to endangering the welfare of a child and attempted sexual assault.

The theatre was worried about the threat of protests and decided to ax the production. [Baltimore Sun]

27-year-old Ryan Reiersgaard & 27-year-old Katie Mager were visiting Chicago from Minnesota last week. They told police they were robbed at knifepoint and had an engagement ring, laptop and Louis Vuitton suitcase stolen from them.

But Mager & Reirsgaard couldn't get their stories straight and gave conflicting information to investigators. The couple eventually admitted that they'd made up the story to police, and Reiersgaard said it was just to "have some fun" for his birthday.

They're both facing a felony charge for falsely reporting a crime. [Chicago Tribune]

You know, I usually try to avoid jail whenever possible...especially on my birthday.
