This is like 'Catfish' plus the Nigerian Prince scheme rolled into one. Here's "Crappy News" for Wednesday, August 15th, 2018.

Let's begin with a story about ACTUAL crap...

Conestoga Township, PA- A septic truck overturned and landed in a swimming pool.

Police say a road was closed Thursday afternoon due to an earlier accident, and traffic was being redirected when the sewage tanker was unable to navigate a turn.

The truck smashed through a fence and rolled over into a man's backyard pool. The homeowner was asleep at the time, and thought the loud crash was merely a thunder clap. He woke up a short time later and discovered the poo truck partially submerged in the pool.

Hazmat crews cleaned up the sewage and the diesel fuel that spilled. The truck was hoisted out after the pool was drained. No injuries were reported. [WGAL-TV]

Belleville, IL- A man got stuck in mud trying to find his pet bird.

The victim wound up in waist-deep mud Sunday afternoon when his pet parrot flew off his shoulder and into the center of a dredged lake at a local park.

Firefighters laid multiple ladders down on drier parts of the lake in order to create a makeshift bridge.

It took about 15 minutes for the man to be pulled out and rescued. The parrot was recovered and is doing fine. [News-Democrat]

Sarasota, FL- A woman is hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt as a result of a "catfishing" scheme.

Online Dating

69-year-old Pamela Viles met a man named James Lazenby on back in 2016. The two hit it off and were texting every day and calling each other a few days a week.

Lazenby claimed he was having business troubles, so Pamela, being the good girlfriend she was, tried to help.

Over the past two years Viles sent him money from her IRA, personal checking account, and funds taken from credit card loans and is now more than $350,000 in debt. She also sent $900,000 of fraudulent wire transfer funds overseas.

Viles says that health problems have clouded her judgment and affected her thinking.  She is on the verge of losing her home, and her family has set up a GoFundMe page to try to get some of the money back. [WWSB-TV]
